A concept design was developed for one of Poland’s leading private Universities, who were looking to add to their campus accommodation for 400 students and provide a Sports Centre and an outdoor football pitch.
The site is located on a flood plain on the edge of a post-industrial quarter of Warsaw, with stunning views to the Vistula River and the city centre. The proposal consists of modern and functional student flats of various sizes, arranged into three blocks, which snake and undulate along the edge of the site to maximise views and reduce the massing.
The ground floor is occupied by communal uses that create an active frontage and open to a series of external spaces such as the ‘civic square’ and ‘river garden’. Together with the new Sports Centre, the accommodation and supporting uses, such as the cafe and study rooms, create a new vibrant social hub for the campus.
